About

Hutto General Store, originally named Creative Touch, was founded in 1988 by Janet Widmer as an interior decorating business. Creative Touch expanded in 1992 to open a store front in Historic Downtown Hutto offering gifts and accessories as well.

The business again expanded in 2009 when her son Matt Widmer became the owner while still working closely with his mom Janet to learn and grow the business.

Janet's daughter Kim Kubala worked with Janet for many years but as the store has expanded, she has become a senior buyer while working beside her brother Matt Widmer to expand and grow the business. In 2009 Creative Touch began transitioning away from interior decorating into a unique gift shop.

The store expanded once again in 2011 with the addition of Candy Corner offering a wide variety of packaged and bulk candy.  In September of 2022 Creative Touch and Candy Corner formally joined under one name to become Hutto General Store.

Hutto General Store now has over 2,000 sq.ft. of showroom floor.  In the shop you will find a wide variety of gifts including jewelry, clothing, seasonal decorations, specialty food items, candy, toys, children's gifts, cookware, candles, and many home decor items.

The historic building Hutto General Store is located inside was built in 1891 and is truly a unique look into history.  The building was originally a bank on the lower floor while a doctor's office was located in the upstairs.  The building next door which was also built in 1891 was a General Store.
